Bananas Foster (aka Banane flambée)
This dessert is inspired by the famous Bananas Foster or Banane flambée but way easier and safer and without alcohol. Paul Blangé created this dessert in 1951 in New Orleans, USA. Then it spread fast all over the Caribbean islands, where it’s a popular dish still nowadays. The dish consists of putting fire to bananas topped with butter, sugar and cinnamon with the help of a rum. This flame caramelizes the banana to perfection and tenderizes it in 15 seconds. A show dessert, easy and fun to reproduce in your Air fryer from now on. If you want to check the authentic recipe, check it out here.
Variations
Before cooking, the sugar of your choice; could be white, cane or brown sugar. Add some extra cinnamon, chocolate chips or coconut sugar to the bananas if you desire. Also, in the end, the peanuts could be replaced by almonds or shredded coconut. The world is wide open on the variations here. The critical bit is the caramelization of butter and sugar; the rest you choose. Maybe your kids fancy some sprinkles on their bananas.

Serve with
I haven’t served mine with anything but a lovely vanilla ice cream would suit this recipe perfectly. Also, a little cloud of whipped cream would make a fine decoration with these. Little bits of Oreo cookies or any chocolate bar would be fun too. Let your imagination free on this one!
