Looking to wow the kids at the Christmas table? Try creating a charcuterie board shaped like a Christmas tree, featuring their favorite green, red, and white ingredients! Festive, fun, and delicious!

Charcuterie Xmas Tree -4

Here’s a fun and festive idea for your Christmas table that the kids will adore! Create a simple Charcuterie Christmas Tree using kid’s all time favourite cheeses, cured meats, veggies and fruits, all pinned to a foam cone. Add rosemary sprigs for a pine tree effect. Prepare it ahead of time for stress-free holiday fun, and place it on a rotating cake stand to make snack time interactive and entertaining for the whole family!

Red, Green and White

To make this Christmas tree truly festive, I’ve chosen red, green or white ingredients and tried to alternate the colours. The choice of meat is a tender mortadella and cured ham (prosciutto style); the cheeses are soft gouda and fresh mozzarella balls. I’ve added extra cucumbers, cherry tomatoes and two coloured grapes for a high in colour snack.

The Cone and Skewers

the foam cone

I covered the foam cone I purchased online (linked here) with aluminum foil to keep it clean and prevent unwanted flavors from seeping into the food.

To make the skewers green, I soaked them a few hours or overnight in a mixture of green food coloring and a splash of vinegar, then let them dry—voila, festive skewers ready to go!

For a playful touch, I set the Charcuterie Christmas Tree on a rotating cake stand, making it both pretty and fun for the kids to spin as they pick their next bite.

Variations

The best part about this edible tree is how customizable it is! Here are a few ideas you could use:

Cheese: Any fresh and firm white cheese, like cheddar, Emmental, goat, etc.

Meat: For meat, aim for red, like cured ham, salami, chorizo, beef jerky, etc.

Veggies: Green olives, avocado dices, caperberries, tiny pickles, small marinated onions, etc.

Fruits: raspberries, strawberries, pomegranates, etc.

You could also turn it into a fruit Christmas tree using only fruits! This is just an idea for next year.

Kid-Friendly

This tree is made with all my kids’ favourites and great, healthy stuff, too! Of course, be careful not to let younger kids manipulate the toothpicks. The idea behind this Charcuterie Christmas Tree was to create a fun, kid-friendly snack board, so I used mild and familiar ingredients they’ll love. Of course, you can easily upgrade it with bold flavors and gourmet options if you’re serving grown-ups instead!
